An Open Letter to James Groman

Dear James,

This is your fourth time participating in a Broke Piggy Custom Show, and every time we're thrilled to have your work on display.

We've talked shop over the phone and even over breakfast, but until recently I only knew you as the legendary monster maker. The master sculptor. Then I started digging a little deeper and discovered the animation work, the films, the television projects, art director, and somehow you're also a college professor. It's quite a resume.

Which brings me to my concern. Which James Groman did we get?

Let me explain.

For you to agree to participate in this custom show and create three completely different pieces is, for lack of a better word, insane. By my count, you're wearing at least seventeen different hats. The only explanation that makes any logical sense is that somewhere along the way you acquired access to advanced cloning technology and quietly created multiple James Gromans.

As one of the show's curators, I feel obligated to ask the question collectors deserve to have answered.

Was the James Groman who painted these three Spark-lings at least one of the original five clones?

I'm sure there are rigorous quality control standards in place, and that clone degradation doesn't become an issue until much later in the cloning production run, perhaps around number thirty-two. Still, you know the toy community as well as anyone. Collectors are going to want as much information as possible. They're going to ask whether their Spark-ling came from one of the early Groman clones.

Or, could it be we've been blessed by...

James Groman Prime?

Forgive me. I'm getting carried away.

The truth is, any collector would be incredibly fortunate to own an original James Groman custom toy, regardless of which clone painted it. It's something so rare to come upon.

But now comes the difficult part.

Which Spark-ling Monster shall be chosen for the auction?

Sincerely,

One of the Founders of Broke Piggy
