So you’ve browsed around online and other places we listed and you’ve come up with a list of some scholarships that may be a good fit for you. Now what?
That leads us to the next step: Apply for It. Once you have found the scholarships you are looking for, then you have to let them know that you want that money! Here are some ideas when applying:
- Every application is different. Some are just a simple one page form you have to fill out. Others require an essay, recommendation letters, and the rights to name your first born child. Not really…at least, not that I’m aware of. So just make sure you know exactly what you need to do to apply. Some scholarship application requirements are so strict that if you don’t turn in everything required, you’re automatically disqualified from the scholarship. Ouch!
- Every dollar matters. It is easy to overlook the $250 and $500 scholarships because they don’t seem worth your time. And because most students think of it this way, you may have a better chance of getting the scholarship. Since most students would have that mindset, then fewer would apply, which increases your chances.
- It’s a numbers game. To some degree, applying for scholarships is a numbers game. You’re smart enough to know that the more scholarships you apply for, the more likely you’ll be to receive some. But that also means being strategic and figuring out which ones you best meet the requirements for.
So you’ve found it…you’ve applied for it…now what? You’ll find out…after the break. (I hate it when he does that.)
